Intermediate Database Administrator

Job Description


  • Granting/revoking access to databases / databases objects for users, adding/revoking alias
  • Monitoring SQL & Backup Server DB processes
  • Taking dumps/load of a database in Prod, Test environments
  • Monitoring locks, killing a blocking process, creating databases, altering databases
  • Action on tempdb full and transaction log full
  • Applying latest patches on DB servers/instances
  • Performance tuning of queries
  • Performing migration activities from lower SQL Server version to higher
  • Ensure backup/recoverability of managed systems
  • Ensure security compliance of managed systems
  • Coordination for technical support for all MS SQL Servers, SSAS, SSRS, PowerBI and SSIS Servers
  • Ensure that production databases are available in accordance with the agreed service levels
  • Provide on-duty production support, rollout support and on-call support outside office hours and on public holidays according to the on-call shift plans
  • Following up with Network/Windows Administrators for server related performance issues
  • Advise management on Long-Term capacity plans and growth
  • Analyze and recommend database improvements – execution plans, DMVs
  • Debug database issues on LIVE data
  • Strong technical and interpersonal communication
  • Troubleshoot database errors


Degrees: Any degree

IT skills (in details with required levels):

  • MS SQL database administration 2014, 2016 & 2017 – with minimum 3 years of experience
  • MSBI Technologies – SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, PowerBI

· Experience in the execution of certain tasks:

  • SQL Server HA Features, cluster, log shipping and Always-ON
  • Performance tuning of SQL queries
  • SSRS/PowerBI Configuration


The working hours is on shift period, 8 hours (anytime between 7:00 and 23:00 hrs CET). The candidate may be expected to travel to Zurich on a Short-term/Long-term assignment.
