Senior Controller for Hungary - Insurance/Banking

This role is part of the EMEA Controller team. The primary responsibilities are to ensure there are efficient and effective operational accounting processes and relationships, accurate and on-time production and analysis of the US GAAP and Local reporting results for Hungary and to ensure there is a strong internal control environment in line with our policies. This position works with CFO’s, CoE and regional staff as well as Home Office Controllers and other Corporate departments.


·Responsible for ensuring accurate reporting of the Hungary earnings in line with US GAAP and company policies

·Ensure the reporting and analysis of Hungary and the completion of all US GAAP monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting to HQ within the established time frames

·Responsible for ensuring successful and accurate completion of all local finance and regulatory reporting and submissions including tax submissions

·Work closely with the CoE to ensure accurate reporting and controls are in place for Hungary

·Deliver and lead transformational changes to Hungary financial reporting and controls process

·Ensure accurate data and analysis submitted for Hungary

·Summarise results and items affecting Hungary in a clear and efficient format

·Ensuring Hungary Accounting complies with Corporate and Local Reporting requirements. This involves resolving technical accounting queries/issues including agreement/communication with TAG and correct implementation by Hungary

·Support internal and external audits in relation to Hungary

·Provide support and expertise on multiple projects impacting Hungary Controllers

·Conduct other ad hoc reporting requirements and participate in special projects, as they arise


·Qualified Accountant ideally with 10+ PQE preferably in the life/non-life insurance industry

·Expert knowledge in local Hungarian regulations and reporting requirements

·Hands-on experience in financial and management reporting

·Experience managing or leading a team

·Good working understanding and knowledge of US GAAP and local reporting standards

·Strong analytical capability, with the ability to identify key trends in financial data

·Strong excel skills essential with experience of Financial Systems

·Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience of communicating, managing and influencing key stakeholders at various management levels

·High level of personal drive and enthusiasm

·Ability to drive continuous process improvement including the development of new processes and system

·Experience of working with multi-currency general ledgers and Policy Admin/Reinsurance Admin systems

·Ability to handle multiple assignments while delivering to multiple inflexible deadlines

·Good attention to detail but with the ability to also look at the big picture

·Fluency in English 


·Experience in the Insurance or Banking sector (one of the 2 is a must)
