How a national healthcare authority got consistent KPIs from four hospitals running four different clinical systems

Heterogeneous hospital information systems the authority does not control, unified into one reporting platform in three months.

The challenge

A national hospital directorate lacked a unified, reliable central data collection system across its hospitals. Clinical source systems are heterogeneous and not under the authority's control, so consistent KPI reporting for government and internal operational purposes was slow, fragmented and non-transparent.

What we did

SWICON built ETL pipelines from four hospital information systems, each from a different vendor, into a data lake on HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric with a Stage layer for raw historical storage and a Presentation layer optimized for reporting, with data lineage and scheduling. Ten KPIs across up to three clinical domains were calculated on top and visualised in Grafana dashboards.

The result

A pilot data platform covering four hospitals went live in three months, with ETL from all four clinical systems, KPI dashboards and training materials, giving the authority its first consistent cross-hospital reporting base.
