How an insurer took over a legacy sales-network system in one month and replaced it from scratch in 14 months, with zero gap in operation

The old system kept running while the new one was built. The relationship has been uninterrupted since 2008.

The challenge

An insurer's sales-network management system, covering agent master data, career paths, training, examinations and entitlements, was running on a legacy platform and had to be replaced. The incoming supplier had to take over the old system completely, keep it running for the sales force, and build the successor from zero at the same time.

What we did

SWICON took over the full operation and support of the legacy system within one month. In parallel, it designed and built the new agent-management framework from scratch: career-path rules, hierarchy and entitlement models, training and examination tracking, reporting, with requirements analysis, architecture consulting, testing (unit, integration, regression, UAT support) and project management in one team.

The result

The new system went live 14 months after the start, while the legacy system was kept running throughout, so the sales network never lost its tooling. SWICON has provided continuous development, second- and third-level application support and project management on the platform since 2008, without interruption.
